My First Client

I will never forget my first official freelance client. At the time, I was not even thinking about starting my own business. I knew it would happen in the future, but was not aware I was on the brink of incorporating. I call this client "official" because they were not my friend or family, but a true, real-life reference. I was elated to get the call!

The ask was simple: our photographer canceled and we were told you might be available. I could not grab my camera fast enough. Well, photographing one event turned into monthly events, and photography turned into designing marketing materials, and eventually I began to manage their website, branding, and all things creative.

This is the best type of client a freelancer can ask for, and it is what GoldLee Designs bases their mission on: helping small businesses and entrepreneurs grow. It was the most natural flow, and it models how many of my clients work to this day.

Small businesses start fast, but the creative comes slowly. The work is personal to you as the founder, and you want to make a lasting impact on your potential clients. Branding, writing, capturing, & designing your essence is a long and winding road that should not be traveled alone. Google becomes your best friend and the competition becomes overwhelming.

I myself have gone through this process, and in my rare moments of free time struggle resisting the urge to constantly reinvent myself to compete instead of building upon the foundation I have laid. GoldLee Designs Inc. is the result of one of my reinventions, but so was AW Designing, ADub Designs, Marked Designs, Allie Woodward Consulting, and endless more. I am so proud of where GoldLee Designs has taken me as a brand. While it may vary as time continues, I will remain loyal to the brand that represents my small business dream:

Creative Consulting That Truly Shines.
