A Melody in My Head
This blogging thing is harder that it is cut out to be... When I was living in Sweden, I easily wrote a blog nearly every other day. Life was fascinating, and I wanted the world to know. Now that I am living back in Atlanta, my hometown, I find it harder to be inspired by topics that might be of interest to you as a reader.
I recently read "Yes Please" by Amy Poehler (a very entertaining read by the way, and I am usually not one for non-fiction), and she said that writing a book was the hardest thing she has ever done, even more difficult than childbirth... I had a good laugh at that. Writing is hard! Talking on the other hand... I am good at that!
The topic of my blog today is pretty simple. As some of you know, GoldLee Designs is a side venture for me as I grow into a more sustainable company. When I get home from my corporate job in the evening, you would think it takes just about everything in me to sit back down at a computer and continue to work. While this might be the case some days (I am human), the work I do and the people I work with through GoldLee are all people and projects that I am passionate about. It is easily the part of my day I look forward to the most.
When I do have the occasional rut or drought of imagination, I can always count on a good playlist. It is incredible to me the way that music controls and impacts our life. Just think, what would a movie be like with no sound, a run be like without a beat, a wedding be like without a first dance... The world would be a different place with far less creativity. When I edit my photography I listen to upbeat EDM or Pop. While designing webpages I listen to my "Evening Chill" playlist. When I am designing a brochure I listen to Oldies. But, when I write, I listen to silence... just the voice in my head ready to be published to the interwebs... Like I said, writing is hard!
